(November 7, 2020) In 2018, Chris Hixon, the athletic director of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School was shot dead as he tried to save his students. A video of Vice President Joe Biden comforting Corey Hixon, the son of Chris Hixon, during a memorial service in Parkland, Florida, went viral two years after it was taken. As the then former vice president turns to leave the room, Corey calls out “wait!” Biden immediately spins around, just in time to catch Corey running into his arms saying “I’m his son.” Biden immediately embraces Corey. When Biden asks him if he’s all right, Corey shakes his head, Biden tightens his embrace and tells the young man, ‘it’s going to okay, we’re going to be okay.”
